Dear Fellow CAPA Members,

As the current President of CAPA, I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out to you and let you know your Capital Area Purchasing Association Board has been thinking of you and your families during these past months as we have all endured unprecedented times during this pandemic. While we have not had the opportunity to come together as a group, we continue to look for ways to adapt to the current situation to better serve our members. As a volunteer organization, we have had to step up in our current roles to assist the Commonwealth in an effort to provide the goods/services to keep us all safe.  If we have learned anything during this time, it has been resiliency.  Our profession is important to the well-being of many people. I am confident that those we serve have had an opportunity to recognize our value.

While we have not had the benefit of in-person meetings or pivoted to virtual trainings, I believe we have all had a chance to lean on our peers, discuss our needs, and learn the true meaning of teamwork.   As a procurement professional, we have been able to use our knowledge and skills to enhance the buying experience for end users despite the challenges we have experienced.

As I close, I am hopeful that you recognize the value of your membership in CAPA and that you will look for ways you can volunteer. Please continue to engage and support our efforts in 2021.  As we approach the end of a calendar year like no other, I hope that you will take time to reflect on the days behind us and look to the future where each of you are an essential part. Continue to make a difference!

Danielle Keeton

2020 CAPA President
